Exploring the land

We have used some nice weather days lately to explore our property.  It has been a little chilly in the mornings, but beautiful later in the day.  So we just go for a walk to get outside and get some exercise.  We take Maggie and Dixie with us and they LOVE it.  They hate being locked in the backyard all day because all of their other dog friends roam free.  Harper also likes for them to get out and run so she can yell at them and boss them around.  Not sure where she got that from.  :)

The neighborhood dogs, Bear, Hound Dog, and a Yellow Lab, come over all the time.  They are actually really nice dogs and extremely harmless, but we hate that they roam because Dixie and Maggie end up barking at them at all hours of the day and night.

We walked to the pond one day, and I was so shocked to see ducks on our water.  As we got closer though, I realized that they were Cody's duck decoys.  He has been trying to make the pond inviting and get ducks to come to our water.  So he can shoot them.  It's his hobby and he really enjoys it.  I don't really care one way or the other.  While we were down at the pond, Dixie ran around like crazy, got in cow poop, and dug up dead animal bones.  Maggie stayed pretty close but ended up jumping in the pond.  I guess she really missed swimming in the pond at my parent's house in Argyle.

We like our new house.  The land is really nice and I'm starting to figure out how much fun it will be.  We have lots to do...  Trees to burn, Grass to cut, Creek Bridge to build, Fences to mend, etc.  But it will all be worth it, and way more fun once we get a 4wheeler!
