Grayson's 3rd Birthday

We celebrated Grayson's 3rd birthday with family on his birthday weekend.  He is seriously into baseball right now so everything circled around that theme.  He even got blue Texas Rangers cupcakes to take to school on Friday.  He is still shy in groups, so he didn't love everyone staring at him while he blew out the candles or opened presents.  But he still had a blast and got some cool stuff.  Our family friends, The Lulfs, came because they were in town from Austin.  It was so great to see them and catch up, especially with Erin since she is in college now.  We had a great time visiting and celebrating Grayson.  I can't believe he is three.  He is so big!

Such a great family picture - and both kids were looking at the camera!
Erin, Reese and Kristen. We used to babysit Erin starting when she was Reese's age. She was the easiest baby! And now she's all grown up and about to be a Junior in college!

Harper's grumpy face!

We started singing to Grayson and he got embarrassed and ducked below the table.

And he stood looking at the candles forever refusing to blow them out.
Think he's going to do it - but he didn't. We finally took the plate back to the kitchen and gave up on him blowing out his candles.
We tried to get him to open presents but he was yelling "No!" and so we just kind of left him be for a moment. And everyone's standing around waiting on him and finally we just opened a present for him and he saw that it was Buzz Lightyear (from Tim and Tina) and he was so excited!

His next present was from Brian and Kristen and he said, "Just what I was always asking for - a catcher's mitt. And a REAL baseball!" He was so excited! And then he didn't really want to open presents anymore because he wanted to go outside and play baseball. We convinced him to open a few more by telling him it was more baseball stuff.
Tons of Rangers stuff.  He was so excited!
He left all of the rest of the presents inside and we went out to play.
Playing baseball with Mark and Tim.
Kristen, Erin and AJ
Mimi and Pop had to go home and Grayson told her he would open her present later.
Watching the Rangers
This kid loves to be naked. I'm not even sure why he took all his clothes off, but he then wanted to play baseball naked.
He kept asking Mark, "Can you put your beer down and play baseball with me" and making Mark wear one of his hats.

At the end of the day he finally opened Pop and Mimi's present. It was so hysterical he said, "Oh my gosh, it's a Scooter! I always wanted one! I just can't believe it!"
Happy 3rd Birthday Grayson - love you!

Mother's Day

This Mother's Day was very laid back.  We celebrated with the Hempkins' on Saturday while we were up in Denison.  We spent the morning taking pictures of Harper for her birthday and her yearly bluebonnet pics.  She is a little too active so it didn't go super smooth.  Then, Cody spent the afternoon planting new trees at our house while I moved more stuff out of the house.  We made dinner and headed home.
Sunday morning we went to church and out to brunch as a family.  Cody wanted to take me to Patrizios for lunch but I surprised him with a dinner date at Patrizios that Friday night so we didn't repeat.  Then we spent some time playing outside and walking to the pond.  It was a truly great morning.  That afternoon, Cody and Harper made me a card and we all took a long nap.
That evening we went to Kristen's house and celebrated together with Kristi.  Dad picked up Taco Cabana (yum!) and we all just sat around and talked and played with the kids.  Harper loves to play at Grayson's house because he has a train table, a baby sister, and a dog.  All her favorite things!  We had dinner, baths, attempted photos (yeah right!), and headed home.
Reese, Taylor and Carleigh

LOVE these two (Grayson almost 3 and Harper almost 2)

We didn't get any better results from a cousins picture.

2nd Half of May Photo Dump

This is how our lives have evolved over the past few weeks.  I am now married to Cody, Carleigh and Taylor.  Harper has a me, Mimi, Taylor and Carleigh to entertain her at all times, and Pop especially always right at bedtime.  We sit and watch tv, do homework, play on the computer, make fun of anyone not in the room, or make Harper say funny things.  It's almost like being back in college with tons of roomates!  And Taylor takes hundreds of pictures all the time so I now have a daily pictorial diary of my days here in Argyle.

All four of us, hanging out on the couch.  They are such weirdos.

Taylor jumped off the couch one night at 9pm and started making cookies.  Halfway through she didn't want to do it alone so we got stuck helping.  But they were good!

Nature Girls and their nature sprout.

Afterschool Harper can't wait for Taylor and Carleigh to get home.  I can't either, because it means she gets entertained and I get a small break!

I never bought playdoh because I kept telling myself I would make my own (another pinterest fail).  I got really desperate one day for an activity and found some.  She LOVES it!  And she doesn't mix colors - so proud!  She has gotten it taken away twice though because she wouldn't stop eating it.  Oh well, she seems fine.

She found a dead bug and wanted to observe it.  She is very into bugs right now.  She likes to stop and look at them and talk to them.  She always asks to "have it" and then when I put it in her hand, she drops it immediately.

The day before the AP World History test, Cody (the World History teacher) and Taylor studied.  It was so cute to see him going all teacher on her.

Carleigh's Orchestra concert.  She plays viola.  They were so good!

During church home group, we let the kids run wild and try to keep an eye on them while we talk.  Last Sunday, I looked out and she was playing with Lexi but on top of the water table.  She is very into climbing and sitting on top of things these days.

We love DD.  We are going through Duck Dynasty withdrawals.
The other day at Walmart, Harper called Willie "Dada".  She must miss Cody's beard!

Harper sat through big church!  Her class was full so we climbed to the top corner of church.  Cody downloaded a MMC video and gave her my earplugs.  She did pretty good!

Taking our nightly walk with all three dogs.  We make the aunties do dishes or go on a walk with us.  It's usually a toss up...

Maggie is SO much better behaved now that she lives with two other dogs.  She must have been lonely and needed to bark all the time to get all her talking out.  She has even started swimming in the pond (she usually hates water).

This type of picture is taken at least 5 times a day.
But aren't they cute?

Harper found an old baby chair of my parents.  She played with it everyday for weeks.

New books from Aunt Kelly!

Bible Study sleepover at the old house.  A game of Manhunt, 10 Things I Hate About You (classic!), pizza and donuts!  We had a great time and I realized that 30 is too old to sleep on the floor.

1st Half of May Photo Dump

May has been fun and busy.  We have spent lots of time outside.  Going to parks, going for walks with the dogs, playing sidewalk chalk, and enjoying the great weather.  Harper loves to swing and slide and seriously enjoys kid watching at the playground.  She likes to watch them play and then copies all the fun things that they do that she didn't know she could do.

Her feet touch the pedals - she's getting so big!

Naked Sidewalk Painting.

I've been shocked to realize how big Harper has gotten this month.  She is talking like crazy.  Asking questions, answering my questions, thinking about things and figuring stuff out.  It's amazing how their little minds remember so much and can figure out whatever they are wondering.  She is also taller and bigger which makes her able to do so much new stuff.  Steps and jumping are two things she has seriously mastered and loves to do.  And she loves to run after the dogs while we go for walks.  I'm thankful she still loves to be held and will still hold my hand (sometimes).

She LOVES driving the car.

When she runs errands with Cody, she gets to do fun stuff that I say no to.

At the dr.  She is big enough now that she doesn't sit in
the baby weigh scale anymore.  Tear...
(This was when she had Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease.  Awesome.)

Climbing stairs on her own.

This little nugget is an independent girl.  She wants to put on her own clothes (or multiple sets or mine).  She likes to accessorize, purses, necklaces, shoes, etc.  She wants to go to school like the big girls.  She wants to feed herself.  Tell us where to sit, tell us when to potty, etc.  But she is also a sweet helper.  She likes to help me fix my hair, clean up, and help tay tay when she is crying.

Eating snack

Her new sunglasses.  She is always complaining about the "sun".

Learning to mix and match.

Animals are her favorite things in the world.  We spend entire car rides looking for cows and horses (hoe-sies).  She will play with dogs more than people - which is a trait she inherited from Cody.  She is a lover, always wanting to pet, feed, and water the dogs.  She feeds our three dogs every day, morning and night, giving each of them a bowl of food, and waiting patiently until they are done, picks up their bowls and instructs them to get a drink.

Hanging out with Bentley - Kristen's dog.
Bentley hasn't had any real attention for a long time and isn't quite sure what to do with her.

Bothering my mom's cat.

She is definitely turning into a two year old.  She stomps her feet and whines when she is frustrated or doesn't get her way.  She is SUPER grumpy after naptime and usually just wants to cuddle mom and watch a "show".  She eats great and we have found lots of great foods that are organic and soy free that she loves - even mac and cheese.  Funny enough she is still pretty chunky.  Not sure how much longer she will keep her baby fat, but it's cute.  She also used to be a tough girl, never crying about little things or getting hurt.  But she gets hurt a lot more often now that she is running and climbing more.  But that just comes with the age.

Sweaty and grumpy after naptime.

Chunky monkey belly hanging out.

She fell down a cement stair and scratched her leg up.

Harper is a cutie right now.  She is almost always happy and laughing and playing.  She loves living with my parents and my sisters.  She loves playing with friends and hanging out with other kids.  She loves to be tickled.  She sings songs, is learning her alphabet and numbers, and loves to sneak her paci. She is my favorite girl.

Twinkies.

She loves her aunties.
