We got egged!

Wednesday night, we went to the Kemp Baptist Church Easter pageant.  It was so great to see the gospel portrayed and interesting for Harper.  She got to see the live animals which was fun for her.  Plus, I tried my best to explain the meaning of the pageant to her as it played out.  She has not stopped talking about how Jesus died but God said "Come back friend, I need you" and Jesus was risen from the dead.  Haha!  She wasn't scared of any of the noises or darkness, but resurrection was a bit intimidating.  She is so cute!  

When we got home that night, we saw that we had been egged by our favorite people - the Spiegel's.  It was bedtime, so Harper got to do her egg hunt the next morning.  Before breakfast, she went out with her basket and did her egg hunt, in PJ's no less.  She loved every minute of it.  Usually egg hunts are so crazy and hectic because kids are crazy for eggs.  This was so cute to see her take her time to find the eggs, to be excited when she finally saw a new one, and to look at each one as she put it in her basket.  

We came inside and she got to look through all her eggs.  She got some good candy and little toys.  It took some strength to get the eggs open, but she just kept at it.  And then, she just kept getting this amazingly happy face every time she opened the egg.  One of her last eggs didn't have anything in it.  She was shocked!  We talked about how it was empty to represent the empty tomb after Jesus had risen from the dead.  It was awesome because she was able to put this together with the pageant from the night before, and she actually understood.  Such a smartie!  

We absolutely love the Spiegel's.  They are the kindest people and we are so thankful for them!  

Library Egg Hunt

We go to the library every Wednesday morning for Read to Win program.  She reads 25 books a week and gets to pick out a free book from the closet.  Plus, Kelly and Tessa go so we get to play with them. And we have met a few other moms from Denison so it's good for us.  They usually make a small craft, sing songs, do colors/shapes/numbers/etc, read a book, and play around the room.  This Wednesday was right before Easter, so we did a bunny craft with chocolate syrup.  Harper enjoyed finger painting, but wasn't sure why she was painting with chocolate instead of eating it.  

After the library program, all the kids headed outside for an easter egg hunt.  Harper was so excited.  She had been carrying her basket around the house for days and playing with her eggs.  She grabbed some eggs and had a fun afternoon.  We took pictures with her library group and then a few of us and Tessa.  They are so cute!  They love each other. 

Monday with Friends

Monday, we went to Dallas for Mom's Inc.  It was spa day so it was nice and relaxing.  Afterwards, we went to lunch with the Long's at CFA.  It was a little crowded, so we headed to their house to play for a little while.  The kids jumped on the trampoline, had snack, and played on the computer.  They get along so well, it was nice for Lisa and I to sit and talk.  They just got their kitchen redone and it's beautiful!  

After Lisa's, we ran some errands around Highland Village.  I've missed shopping at some of the basic stores we had down there.  We shoe shopped and discovered that Harper's feet had grown from a 6 to a little over a 7.  Maybe that's why she hated wearing shoes for the past month or so.  Whoops!  Since Kristi was home with the flu, we couldn't go to my parents house for the evening.  But after school, Taylor and Carleigh met up with us to shop and hang out.  We ran around Old Navy and had a blast just being silly and enjoying the afternoon.  We had so much fun just doing nothing.  After shopping, we went to Rosa's for a snack because we were all starving and my sisters eat dinner at 4pm most days.    It was so good and Harper loved every minute of it.  

After eating, I headed to Jessica's house to visit her, Cory, and Cayden.  I miss her tons, but can't wait till summer when she doesn't have to work and can play with us all the time.  They are good and Cayden is getting so big!  He's 6 months, crawling across the floor, and super interested and focused with what's going on around him.  It's always nice to just sit and talk about life and Jesus and babies and families and school.  We have so much in common.  We could talk for days and not be done.  Afterwards, we headed home for bedtime.  Harper fell asleep about 15 minutes into the car ride - poor kid was exhausted.  It was a long but really nice day.

Saturday is the best day!

Saturdays are the best days.  And Sundays, but pretty much all weekend we have the best time.  Harper knows that Cody gets to stay home and she is always SO happy.  She and Cody make biscuits and sausage for breakfast and she eats biscuits like they are the last food on Earth.  This Saturday, we headed to Sherman to watch Julianne play soccer.  She is really good and it was fun to see her being such a kid.  She is growing up so fast!  She scored a goal at the end and it was so cute!  After the game,  she was so happy that Harper came to see her.  They hugged and picked flowers and ran hand in hand to the car.  Afterwards, we stopped by Lowe's for the kids workshop and then went to Kelly's garage sale.  Harper got a doll wagon, a dress from Tessa and Julianne, and a little purse to carry stuff in.  All three girls just kept getting stuff for Harper.  I had to eventually say no more.  But we gave each of the girls a few dollars to put in their piggy banks and headed home.

We stopped by the park that day and played on Harper's favorite swings - the horse swings at the old park in downtown.  She played on that horse for an hour before we finally made her leave.  She loves those things.  I love that Cody is always willing to play with her, slide or sing.  He is so good with her and loves to play or rough house or run wild.  They are both such cute kids!  Harper also loves this about him and that's why Saturdays are the best days!

That night, Taylor went to prom with Paco.  Isn't she stunning?  She found a beautiful beaded gown and got her hair put up.  I just can't believe she went to prom.  It feels so weird - she can't be getting this old!  She had a great time and I'm so proud of who she is.  She is so beautiful!

A Fun Day with Kara

Kara called us Wednesday night and was randomly taking Thursday off of work.  So we decided to meet her in McKinney the next day and spend the day hanging out together.  She is so good about coming to us that it was nice to meet her for once so she didn't have to drive too far.  The next morning, we met Kara at the shops in Allen and spent the morning shopping, looking around, and walking the shops.  Harper got to spend about 30 minutes in the shoe department at Macy's before we got enough stares that we left.  She loved trying on as many shoes as she wanted.  And making Kara try shoes on that were definitely not super cute.  But she put every shoe back on the racks and we moved on.   

After shopping, we found a park in Allen and grabbed lunch.  Harper ate her food and then played for an hour on the playground.  Kara and I ate, talked, walked around, and helped Harper when she needed it.  It was a beautiful day outside and a perfect afternoon.  After awhile, we headed towards McKinney and ran one more errand.  We grabbed some ice cream from Sonic and talked in the car for another hour or so.  We could honestly talk for days and not be done.  That afternoon, Kara headed south and we headed north.  When we got home, Harper tried on the new bathing suits that Kara bought her.  She LOVES bathing suits.  I love days spent with her.  They refresh me.
